    Main Conference Topics

Thermag X provides a platform for scientists and engineers from around the world working in the field of caloric materials and devices to meet and discuss their research, ideas and challenges.

The scope of the conference includes:
    • caloric cooling and heat pumps
    • energy harvesting and scavenging: thermomagnetics, pyroelectrics, thermomechanics
    • magnetocaloric/thermomagnetic materials
    • electrocaloric/pyroelectric materials
    • mechanocaloric/thermomechanical materials
    • multi-caloric materials
      • Material developments: new or advanced materials, synthesis, characterization, testing for sensible heat storage (water, sand, underground…), latent heat storage and thermochemical heat storage

      • Applications: residential, commercial, industrial use, low, medium, high temperature, heating, cooling, dehumidification, district heating, CHP, heat pumps, chillers, renewable energy
      • Material development: (new or advanced materials, synthesis, characterization, testing) for mechanical storage (pumped hydro, compressed gas…), classic battery, flow battery, fuel cell, hybrid supercapacitors, capacitors, superconductive magnetic energy storage

      • Applications: residential, commercial, industrial use, e-mobility, electricity, electrolysis, grids, water splitting, PV
      • New and advanced materials: synthesis, characterization, testing for gas storage (hydrogen, methane, CO2), liquid storage (methanol, ethanol…)

      • Applications: power to gas, power to liquid, power to heat
      • Systems: system developments, components development, system integration, testing, optimization, engineering, control, safety, TES systems, battery, fuel cell systems, off—grid/grids systems, LCA, numerical and modelling aspects.
      • Climate and Policy: economy, management, regulatory aspects, market models, climate change
The above topics include fundamental and applied research activities in physics, materials science and engineering, fundamentals and applications of thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid dynamics, and electrical and mechanical engineering of devices and systems.

    Presentation Formats

The Scientific Committee will ultimately decide whether a submitted abstracts will be selected for an oral or a poster presentation. The scheduled time for each oral presentation is 12 minutes, followed with 3 minutes discussion. For plenary talks: presentation 35 minutes, followed with the 10 minutes discussion. With this in mind speakers are requested to stay within the time given. While the names of several authors may be included on the title of the abstract, only one author will be allowed to give the oral presentation.

    Method of Abstract Submission
    • All abstracts must be submitted only via the online form that is accessible after to create the new user account with your e-mail address and password.
    • Authors will be notified about the delivery of their abstract by e-mail immediately.
